Safar Center Awards
SCCM Research Awards
A remarkable five trainees from the Safar Center received research awards at the 2007 Congress of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). Notably, Dr. Alia Dennis received the “In Training Award” from the SCCM for the top paper by a fellow in training.

TATRC
Colonel Ronald Poropatich and Mr. Robert Read from the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command/
Fort Detrick, Maryland, visited the Safar Center September 27, 2007. Their visit coincided with the new funding by TATRC of the first clinical trial of the novel Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation (EPR) clinical trial grant application that was submitted by principal investigator Dr. Samuel Tisherman.

Bradler Award
Laura Drewencki, a graduating senior who has worked with Dr. Amy Wagner (Safar Center Associate Director, Physical Medical and Rehabilitation), was awarded the Bradler Award in Neuroscience. This award is given to students who have excelled academically and whose research experiences have shaped their future career plans. Laura is currently attending medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
