Biography
Matt El-Kadi, MD, PhD joined the Department of Neurological Surgery as a clinical assistant professor in September of 1999. He became clinical associate professor in January 2003 and clinical professor in June 2006. He is currently the vice chairman of the Head and Neck Department and the chief of neurosurgery at UPMC Passavant. He is a member of the Tri-State Neurological Associates.
Dr. El Kadi completed his neurosurgery residency training at West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. He completed Neurosurgery Research Fellowship at LAC - USC Medical Center, Department of Neurosurgery Los Angeles, California and did one-year clinical fellowship in neurosurgery at Hartford Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery, University of Connecticut. He received additional training in complex spine surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He is board certified with the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. El Kadi specializes in the treatment of complex spine disorders including spinal fusion and instrumentation and a special interest in spinal cord tumors and minimally invasive spine surgery. He has authored more than seven books and book chapters and has over 50 publications in circulation. He is an active participant in professional societies.
