Biography
Anthony Fabio, MPH, PhD, joined the faculty of the Department of Neurological Surgery in May 2000. He was named associate director of the Center for Injury Research and Control (CIRCL) in February of 2008 and served as the program's director from November 2008 until the program's end in August of 2009.
Dr. Fabio’s main area of interest includes understanding the social causes and correlates of violence as well as the community and individual level correlates of violence trends. He was awarded a training fellowship (K-Award) in 2001 to study these areas from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and has since received funding from national instituitions in this area.
Dr. Fabio also works in a variety of other areas, including traumatic brain injury. He provides expert epidemiologic and statistical expertise including novel modeling techniques for repeated measures. He has received funding from a variety of organizations including the National Institutes of Health, CDC, and the Department of Defense. He has ten years of practical experience in injury prevention and control. Dr. Fabio received a masters of public health and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health.
