Biography
Brian Jankowitz, MD, joined the Department of Neurological Surgery faculty as an assistant professor on July 1, 2010 after completing the department’s seven-year residency program. He works with Michael Horowitz, MD, in the department’s endovascular neurosurgery program.
Dr. Jankowitz has a keen interest in ischemic cerebrovascular disease. He plans to aggressively enroll patients into current cerebrovascular surgical and pharmacological studies in an initiative to start a multi-center ischemic stroke prevention trial, with the University of Pittsburgh serving as the primary enrolling site. He believes a combination of open and endovascular means—working synergistically—hold the key to improving secondary stroke prevention.
Originally from Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. Jankowitz received his medical training at Temple University and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. Jankowitz's publications can be reviewed through the National Library of Medicine's publication database.
