Biography

Michael Rutigliano, MD, MBA, was appointed to the University of Pittsburgh faculty in 1996. His clinical interests include a wide range of neurosurgical diseases including spinal and peripheral nerve disorders, brain tumors, and cerebrovascular diseases.

An active staff member of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Dr. Rutigliano lives in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and the primary focus of his clinical practice is in Westmoreland County.

He received his medical degree in 1989 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Following an internship in general surgery, he completed residency training in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During this time he also obtained an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Rutigliano’s academic expertise is in medical economics and cost-effectiveness analysis. He was awarded the Pittsburgh Academy of Medicine Study Scholarship and was honored by the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association with a scholarship for research in cerebrovascular disease.

Dr. Rutigliano is a major in the United States Army Reserves and served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April to July 2003
