Minimally Invasive endoNeurosurgery Center (MINC)

Consultation and Evaluation

Physicians and patients are encouraged to consult the Center for Minimally Invasive endoNeurosurgery Center (MINC) for evaluation of a new or recurrent problem affecting the skull base or for a second opinion. Radiologic and pathologic studies may be sent in advance of a patient appointment in order to determine if the patient would benefit from a full evaluation. The initial evaluation includes a complete history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic studies by members of our staff. Additional consultations and diagnostic tests are performed as necessary. Every attempt is made to complete the initial evaluation in 1-2 days.

All treatment options are explored with the patient to arrive at the best treatment approach. If surgery is recommended, pre-operative testing, surgical procedures, rehabilitation and recovery, and the need for adjunctive therapy are discussed. Other treatments available at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (radiation therapy, radiosurgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy) may be offered as an alternative or an adjunct to surgery. Following treatment, patients are encouraged to return for followup care as necessary.
