University of Pittsburgh Neurosurgeons Cited Among Best

Pittsburgh, April 20, 2006 -- Several University of Pittsburgh neurosurgeons have been named among this area’s top doctors in their field in a national survey published locally in Pittsburgh Magazine. P. David Adelson, MD, A. Leland Albright, MD, Amin Kassam, MD, L. Dade Lunsford, MD, Joseph Maroon, MD and Ian Pollack, MD, were named in the survey featured in the May 2006 issue of the magazine.

The listing was compiled by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. whose physician-led research team follows a rigorous screening process to select top doctors on the national and regional levels. They identify highly skilled, exceptional doctors by evaluating their medical education, training and hospital appointments, and by surveying area hospital leaders and physicians.

The issue features on the cover Dr. Kassam, co-director of the Minimally Invasive endoNeurosurgery Center, who along with MINC co-director Carl Snydermann, MD, has refined a minimally invasive endonasal procedure that removes brain tumors through the nose. A story chronicling Dr. Kassam and one of his patients is featured in the issue.
