Karin Muraszko, MD, Speaks on Guatemalan Project

Pittsburgh, May 11, 2006 -- Karin M. Muraszko, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan, gave a talk entitled, "Project Shunt: The University of Michigan Goes to Guatemala," May 10, as part of the department's visiting professor lecture series.

Dr. Muraszko is the co-founder of 'Project Shunt' at the University of Michigan. This program provides care to indigent children in Guatemala and has been an ongoing yearly medical mission of neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, neurosurgical residents and nursing staff from the University of Michigan under her direction since 1998. The program has provided care to over 300 Guatemalan children.

Dr. Muraszko
