Lunsford, Gamma Knife Featured on WTAE-TV News

Pittsburgh, October 9, 2007 -- L. Dade Lunsford, MD, was featured on the WTAE-TV (Pittsburgh) Evening News, October 9, discussing the benefits of fifth generation Perfexion® Gamma Knife recently installed at UPMC Presbyterian.

The news report focused on a 43-year-old man suffering from a rare but inoperable schwannoma. In this segment, medical editor Marilyn Brooks reported how the new Gamma Knife unit helped doctors more effectively and efficiently treat this deep-seated tumor.

Perfexion is a completely new system allowing expansion of procedures in the brain, cervical spine and head & neck regions. The system features a newly remastered, more flexible dose delivery system. With this new technology, physicians can non-invasively treat multiple brain lesions simultaneously—in one single automated procedure, in one single day.
