Reception/Dinner Honors Graduating Chief Residents

Pittsburgh, June 23, 2008 -- A special black-tie graduation reception and dinner was held June 21 at the Fox Chapel Golf Club honoring chief residents Dave Atteberry, MD, Johnathan Engh, MD, and Paul Gardner, MD, on their successful completion of the University of Pittsburgh’s seven-year neurological surgery residency program. The event was attended by faculty members, colleagues, family and friends.

All three doctors announced plans to remain with the department as assistant professors as of July 1. Dr. Atteberry will be involved in the department's Community Neurosurgery Division while Dr. Engh will be chief of the Endoport Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery program. Dr. Gardner will serve as co-director of the Center for Skull Base Surgery program.

During the evening, the department's annual teaching awards were announced. Dr. Engh was selected as best resident teacher by the staff and Daniel Prevedello, MD, was chosen as best faculty teacher by the residents.
