Pittsburgh, July 23, 2009 -- Ian Pollack, MD, chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, was featured on the WTAE-TV (Pittsburgh) Evening News, July 22, discussing a revolutionary new procedure for removing brain tumors.
The news report focused on a 14-year-old patient who had a small tumor behind his ear removed through a narrow tube, an endoport, inserted through a small incision—essentialy sucking the tumor out while minimizing tissue manipulation.
The procedure—Endoport Guided Tumor Resection—reduces the risk of brain injury, post-operative complications and recovery time. The patient was out of the hospital in three days.
