PKA-Hypothermia Bridge: A New Therapeutic Approach for Traumatic Brain Injury

Funding Agency:

National Institute of Health

Total Project Period:

1/1/09 - 12/31/11

Total Project Award:

$994,218

Principal Investigator:

Larry Jenkins, PhD

Co-Investigator:

Hong Qu Yan, MD, PhD

Project Summary:

Our primary hypothesis is that enhancement of PKA activity; both immediately after murine TBI and during rewarming will be synergistically beneficial with delayed hypothermia treatment. This approach will provide benefit both independent of and synergistic to hypothermia, and serve as a "bridge therapy" that will further improve the therapeutic effectiveness of clinical hypothermia in the treatment of TBI.
