Project Summary:
This is a consortium study group to address the role of molecular genetics in the development of intracranial cerebral aneurysms. The study involves using probands with aneurysms who have a positive family history. The pedigrees will then undergo genetic analysis with the hope of identifying putative genetic markers for more detailed study. The University of Pittsburgh was invited to participate based on its unique experience and ongoing work in studying the molecular pathophysiology of ICAs and our clinical experience with microsurgical repair. |
