Research Activities

Restorative Neurosurgery Laboratory

The focus of the Restorative Neurosurgery Lab is translational neuroscience related to the:

  1. identification of novel molecular therapy targets in the human temporal lobe, and
  2. MRI-guided drug delivery techniques to reach those targets.

The laboratory houses the human surgical epilepsy tissue bank with a primary focus on studying epilepsy related alterations in hippocampal neurogenesis. Drug delivery studies in nonhuman primates are focused on developing gene therapy techniques to target the entorhinal cortex and hippocampal neurogenic niche, using interventional MRI.
