Basic science and clinical research projects are an integral part of our faculty and trainee activities. Most residents spend 18-24 months working on such projects. Local, regional, and national peer reviewed funding resources continue to grow and support productive basic and clinical research. Internal funding from the Walter Copeland Fund provides seed money for many unique and fascinating projects undertaken by residents and faculty. In many cases these projects subsequently receive extramural research funding.
