Biography

Stephen M. Pirris, MD, recently completed his fifth year of residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During the year, Dr. Pirris performed and assisted on surgical cases, evaluated many patients in the outpatient clinics and completed a rotation as the chief resident on the service at the Veterans Affairs Hospital.

He also performed studies in the Spine Biomechanics Research Laboratory under the direction of Boyle Cheng, PhD, William Welch, MD, and Peter Gerszten, MD.

He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
