Faculty and Trainees to Present Spine Radiosurgery Research at AANS Tumor Talk

Pittsburgh, May 30, 2026 — Faculty and trainees from the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery will present at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Tumor Talk on June 1, 2026, at 4 p.m. EST, a webinar series hosted in partnership with the Journal of Neuro-Oncology.

The session examines research on the 5-factor modified frailty index as a predictor of local control and overall survival following spine stereotactic body radiation therapy. The work builds on the department's longstanding experience with stereotactic radiosurgery for spinal metastases and primary spine tumors.

The panel features Peter C. Gerszten, MD, MPH, the Peter E. Sheptak Professor of Neurological Surgery, and Samuel Adida, MD, MS, an incoming PGY-1 in the department's residency program. They are joined by Roberta K. Sefcik, MD, MSCR, a graduate of the Pitt Neurosurgery residency who now serves as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The webinar is free and open to registrants. Those interested can register at https://aans-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_EjXcmCuBT32VV1qlyFIL-g.
