Pittsburgh, September 1, 2026 — Georgios Zenonos, MD, of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery, was a keynote speaker at the 2nd Brazilian Congress of Skull Base Surgery in Gramado, Brazil. His lecture addressed the state of the art in surgical management and multimodal strategies for skull base chordomas.
Zenonos participated in and moderated multiple panels over the course of the meeting, including sessions on cavernous sinus approaches, chordomas and chondrosarcomas, and anterior skull base meningiomas. He was inducted as an honorary member of the Brazilian Society of Skull Base Surgery.
He also served as teaching faculty at the 2026 International Skull Base Surgery Hands-on Course in Porto Alegre, Brazil, a three-day program of didactic and cadaveric instruction hosted by Santa Casa de Porto Alegre.
The invitations reflect the department's ongoing commitment to neurosurgical education beyond Pittsburgh. Faculty from several department centers regularly provide instruction to surgeons and trainees around the world.
