Nima AlanPittsburgh, December 15, 2017 -- Third-year resident Nima Alan, MD, was awarded a $5,000 development grant from the Society of Lateral Access Surgery (SOLAS) to help fund his research project evaluating the efficacy of intraoperative trans-cranial motor evoked potential (MEP) recordings for reducing lumbar plexopathy in L4/5 eXtreme Lateral lumbar Interbody Fusion (XLIF).

The organization was founded in 2006 to advance minimally disruptive lateral access spine surgery techniques through clinical research, peer-to-peer education, and membership initiatives.

The preliminary results of Dr. Alan’s findings will be presented at the SOLAS Annual Meeting, May 17-19, 2018 in San Diego, Calif.
