Nowicki, Deng, Faraji Win CNS Awards

Pittsburgh, November 14, 2019 -- University of Pittsburgh neurological surgery residents Kamil Nowicki, MD, PhD; Hansen Deng, MD; and Amir Faraji, MD, PhD, each received best oral abstract awards for presentations at the recently completed Congress of Neurological Surgeons 2019 annual meeting held in San Francisco, October 19-23.

Dr. Nowicki received the best basic science award in the cerebrovascular section for his presentation “Blockade of the platelet-driven CXCL7-CXCR1/2 pathway prevents cerebral aneurysm formation.”

Dr. Deng won the best clinical research award in the pediatric section for his presentation, “Pediatric firearm-related traumatic brain injury in United States trauma centers.”

And, Dr. Faraji took home the best operative technique award in the stereotactic and functional neurosurgery section for his presentation, “Stereotactic ROBOT-Assisted Deep Brain Stimulation Workflow – Incorporating the ROSA-Brain System into the Functional Neurosurgical Practice.”
