Pittsburgh, August 21, 2023 -- Taylor Abel, MD—associate professor of neurological surgery and chief of pediatric epilepsy surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh—and David Zorub, MD—clinical professor of neurological surgery at UPMC Shadyside—have been announced as winners of UPMC’s Excellence in Patient Experience Award.
Both physicians were selected as a ‘Top UPMC Physician by Specialty,’ Dr. Abel in pediatric neurosurgery and Dr. Zorub in neurosurgery. According to UPMC, of the more than 5,000 UPMC physicians, Drs. Abel and Zorub were among only 48 recipients of this award across UPMC’s specialties.
A sample of the many positive comments given by patients include, “We would recommend Dr. Abel and his team and staff to anyone,” and “Dr Zorub always is receptive to what you say. He asks appropriate questions and follows-up as needed.”
In recognition of their achievement, both will be honored during the upcoming, virtual Dr. Loren Roth Quality and Patient Safety Awards Celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, October 18.
