Pittsburgh, June 14, 2020 -- Congratulations to graduating chief residents Amir H. Faraji, MD, PhD; Ezequiel Goldschmidt, MD, PhD; David J. Salvetti, MD; and Benjamin M. Zussman, MD, who have successfully completed the seven-year University of Pittsburgh neurological surgery residency program.
Dr. Faraji will now be serving a peripheral nerve fellowship with the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and then will join the faculty at Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Goldschmidt will also be serving a fellowship, having received the prestigious Van Wagenen Fellowship from the Karolinska Instituet in Sweden.
Dr. Salvetti is headed into private practice at the Virginia Brain And Spine Center in Winchester, Va., as is Dr. Zussman, who is joining the Wellstar Medical Group in Roswell, Ga.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year's graduation ceremony was held virtually.
During the ceremony, department teaching awards were announced. Dr. Zussman received the Resident Teaching Award as voted on by department faculty and D. Kojo Hamilton, MD, received the Faculty Teaching Award as voted on by department residents.
