Remodeled Resident Lounge Dedicated

Pittsburgh, May 19, 2025 -- A remodeled, state-of-the-art resident lounge was dedicated on Monday at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery. Funded in part by a generous gift from Joseph Maroon, MD, the lounge features personal workstations—with dual-monitors and upgraded ergonomic chairs—for every resident, designed in an open environment to facilitate collaboration between residents and APPs.

The lounge also includes large personal lockers for every resident, a full-service kitchenette/dining area with upgraded appliances, and a workout area with a treadmill, Peloton, weights and a shower/washroom area.

The remodeled space serves as a commitment the department has made to providing the best possible environment for training the next generation of great neurosurgeons.
