The 2026 Peter Jannetta Lectureship

Pittsburgh, March 25, 2026 — Pitt Neurosurgery is pleased to announce that Fred Barker, MD, Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School and Visiting Neurosurgeon at Mass General Brigham, will deliver the 2026 Peter J. Jannetta Lecture on Wednesday, April 1.

Named in honor of former department chair Dr. Peter Jannetta — renowned worldwide for his development of microvascular decompression surgery — the annual lectureship highlights innovations in the field of neurosurgery.

Dr. Barker's visit will feature a full day of programming:

7:15–8:15 a.m. — "Generative AI in Neurosurgical Research" | Main Conference Room

11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. — Case Presentations & Lunch with Residents | Main Conference Room

6:15 p.m. — "Skull Base Oncology: Where Are We Now, and Where Are We Going?" | Pittsburgh Golf Club
