Pittsburgh, August 5, 2022 -- The 9th Annual Pittsburgh 5K Run/Walk for Brain Aneurysm and AVM Awareness is set for Saturday, September 17 at North Shore Riverfront Park, adjacent to Acrisure Stadium. The event is held to help raise funds for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in their efforts to create brain aneurysm and AVM education and awareness materials and to help celebrate the lives of brain aneurysm and AVM survivors and their families. This event is a great way to remember and honor family, friends and survivors and support efforts of the brain aneurysm community in Pittsburgh.
Participants can sign up for the event at give.bafound.org/2022Pittsburgh5K. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Onsite registration for the event begins at 8 a.m., with the event starting at 10 a.m. Participants can sign up as an individual or create a team. The 5K route is along the beautiful Allegheny River with a great view of Pittsburgh’s skyline.
The Brain Aneurysm Foundation’s main mission is to raise awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of aneurysms to promote early detection and prevent ruptures. They work with medical communities to provide support networks for patients and families, as well as to further research that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.
5K participants and donors will help the BAF with their mission and, in turn, help surgeons, healthcare providers, researchers, patients, friends/family members and the community understand this disease, provide the best possible treatment and, hopefully, increase awareness for disease prevention.
