Pittsburgh, August 17, 2023 -- D. Kojo Hamilton, MD, professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and director of the UPMC Neurosurgical Spine Service, has been named recipient of the 2023 UPMC Physician Excellence Award: UPMC Physician Excellence in Leadership.
This award honors physicians who demonstrate exceptional clinical leadership, embody UPMC core values, and make noteworthy, innovative contributions to clinical infrastructure, “practice life,” and professional fulfillment for others who deliver care. It also recognizes physicians who demonstrate a visionary approach to problem-solving, are highly engaged in improvement activities, and advocate for positive change.
Dr. Hamilton is a recognized leader in the treatment of scoliosis, adult spinal deformity and trauma. He is renowned for neurological surgery education and mentoring and has an extensive research background in spine surgery, presenting nationally and internationally on the subject.
