Pittsburgh, July 24, 2012 -- Edward Monaco III, MD, PhD, chief resident at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery, received the resident research and abstract presentation award at the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society's 99th Scientific Meeting held July 21 in Hershey, PA.
Dr. Monaco received the award for his report describing white matter changes in patients who receive radiation therapy compared to those who had gamma knife radiosurgery to treat brain metastases.
