Garret W. Choby, MD, is a Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, as well as Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Administratively, he is the Vice-Chair of Quality for the Department of Otolaryngology and the Associate Chief of Quality for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is an internationally recognized leader in sinonasal cancers and skull base disorders, as well as surgical quality. He has previously been named departmental Teacher of the Year and is a 3x recipient of the Press-Ganey patient experience award. Dr. Choby has held several national leadership positions including the Chair of the Skull Base and Orbital Surgery section of the American Rhinologic Society (ARS), President-Elect of the International Network for Sinonasal Cancer Research (INSICA) and Board of Directors of the ARS. He enjoys a collaborative practice with his neurosurgical colleagues, offering comprehensive care for patients with complex skull base tumors. Active research areas include improving quality of life following endoscopic skull base surgery and improving survival in patients with sinonasal malignancies. Highlights of ongoing studies include proliferative and transcriptomic profiling of sinonasal mucosal melanoma, understanding outcomes of olfactory neuroblastoma and a multi-site consortium prospectively evaluating survival outcomes and tumor biology of sinonasal malignancies.
