Pittsburgh, July 1, 2013 -- Daniel A. Wecht, MD, MSc, clinical professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, has been named chief of neurosurgery at UPMC Shadyside, effective July 1. A graduate of Harvard University, Dr. Wecht has been with the department since 1999 and is also chief of neurosurgery at UPMC McKeesport and UPMC St. Margaret.
Dr. Wecht specializes in the treatment of brain tumors and cerebrovascular diseases, such as stroke, aneurysms and vascular malformations. He also has an active spine and general neurosurgery practice and serves as team neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Dr. Wecht succeeds David Zorub, MD.
